Naturally Occurring Asbestos Evaluations
Naturally occurring asbestos, or “NOA”, refers to six naturally occurring minerals with fibrous characteristics that are most commonly found in three rock types: serpentinites, altered ultramafic rocks, and some mafic rocks. Weathering and human activities can cause the fibrous material to become airborne, thereby becoming a potential health risk through inhalation. NOA does not refer to commercially processed asbestos-containing material.
Northgate helps our clients with identification, monitoring, and mitigation of NOA. Our team of experts brings knowledge and experience to the development of Asbestos Dust Monitoring and Mitigation Plans under California Air Resources Board’s Airborne Toxic Control Measures, as well as The California Department of Toxic Substances Control Interim Guidance for NOA at School Sites.
