Preparing Historic District for Sea Level Rise

Northgate staff managed sea level rise and storm surge evaluation and planning effort for the historic downtown of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Work included evaluating climate trend data; coordinating a survey and scoring historic district assets; ranking neighborhoods and structures for historic, cultural, and tax value; calculating risk from sea level rise and storm surge; developing candidate adaptation actions to protect historic assets; ensuring that these actions would be in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations; and evaluating their costs, feasibility, and effectiveness.
