Port Dredged Sediment Reuse Study
On behalf of the Maryland Port Administration, Northgate is working to identify new ways to reuse dredged sediment currently stored in a sediment containment facility. The project 1) uses the full sediment profile to create 3D-printed concrete coastal stabilization products that address sea level rise and storm surge; and 2) uses the sand fraction to create conventional concrete products including Jersey Barriers and parking lot bumpers for use in Baltimore transportation markets. The project includes novel 3D-printing technology for in-water concrete structures and strength and leachability tests of products created.
