This fall, Northgate Principal Geologist Joni Fisher participated in the 2019 Annual Contractor Safety Forum at the Southern California Edison (SCE) office in Rosemead, California. The event was hosted by the Environmental Services Department.
During each annual forum, the meeting culminates with SCE providing an award to one contractor for outstanding safety performance for that year. We are delighted to announce that Northgate Environmental Management, Inc. received the 2019 Contractor Safety Award.
In addition to contractors, SCE Environmental Service Department personnel, SCE Procurement personnel, and SCE’s Vice President of Safety and Security were in attendance.
SCE prioritizes Safety, Integrity, Excellence, Respect, Improvement, and Teamwork, and stresses that Safety is their number one priority. Northgate strives for these same priorities and is continually working to instill them in our staff.
Though much of the SCE field work we perform has inherent danger, the Northgate team expertly addresses and mitigates such issues using sound and reasonable safety practices and employing appropriate administrative controls and personal protective equipment and measures.
All Northgate staff and our SCE project team members understand that they have Stop Work Responsibility when they observe an unsafe condition or unsafe practice, by anyone, while conducting SCE work. There have been several occasions that work has been stopped and SCE has always applauded and appreciated Northgate’s decision process.
We are grateful that SCE took the time to appreciate and award our dedication to their number one priority. Northgate is so proud of our incredibly dedicated and talented, hard-working SCE project team for making safety our number one priority and receiving this award. It is well deserved. AWESOME JOB TEAM!
