Mallika Kumar, a Northgate Project Engineer, was recently chosen to participate in the German government-funded Transatlantic Program for Young Technology Leaders (TAP-YTL). Mallika was one of only 12 delegates selected nation-wide for this intensive program, which was designed to introduce Germany as a world leader in the water industry. The TAP-YTL Water Management program brought together future decision-makers from the US and Germany to build networks and promote sustainable technology transfer in the water and environmental sectors. During a visit to Germany in November 2011, Mallika visited the German Federal Ministry for the Environment to gain an understanding of German public policy frameworks, technical universities to learn about research efforts in wastewater treatment, and wastewater and drinking water treatment plants to gain insights into Germany’s infrastructure and water distribution systems.
