Northgate is proud to welcome emerging leader Nomvelo Siwela as part of the 2015 TechWomen program. Nomvelo, an environmental manager from South Africa with a particular interest in green infrastructure and waste-to-energy recycling, will be joining the Northgate team for the month of October. Having participated in the US Department of State sponsored TechWomen mentorship program since its inception in 2011, Northgate is eager to continue to learn from these STEM leaders from around the world. While we share our experience and expertise with green remediation, waste and resource evaluations, and environmental footprinting, we will learn more about Nomvelo’s experience running a waste management and recycling business in South Africa.
TechWomen, a program sponsored by the US Department of State, connects women leaders from Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia focused on developing their careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with professional mentors in similar fields throughout the Bay Area. This year, 98 women from 19 different countries will work with 40 Bay Area and Silicon Valley companies, attend professional networking events and workshops, and lay the ground work for lasting relationships with inspiring and talented mentors in the US. Northgate is very excited to be a part of this community and to demonstrate our commitment to empower, connect, and support the next generation of women leaders in environmental science and engineering.
